Powertrain Special Programs Lead (m/f)

The candidate will be responsible for the on-time delivery of all powertrain related Bugatti special programs and integration activities.

 

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • To define and own Bugatti Special Programs powertrain topics and their integration into vehicle from early concept phase to industrialization and production
  • Lead cross functionally a team of engineers and external partners to deliver Bugatti Special Programs powertrains on time into production according to target cost, package, mass, functionality and quality
  • Responsible for the definition of high level and low level attributes of powertrain component
  • Responsible for the definition of a complete powertrain budget in terms of variable costs and investment costs (D&D, tooling, development material)
  • Responsible for the definition of the timing plan of all powertrain components, including relevant milestones for design releases, tooling kick off, testing and sign off
  • Responsible for the definition of system and vehicle powertrain related tests and DVPs, ensuring these tests are performed according to time, costs and performances
  • Maintain and support de-bug activities for current and future electrified powertrains, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Main reference figure for Bugatti powertrain Special Programs for feasibility, functionality and resolution of technical issues
  • Manage physical testing and prototype evaluation
  • Engage with main external suppliers and manage costs and timings, and ensuring program milestones are met, including evaluation of RFQ responses to influence management decisions
  • Develop and ensure cross-functionality with other R&D departments in accordance with vehicle requirements
  • Engage with the product development process to understand the impact of design/engineering decisions
  • Evaluate competitor benchmark information to improve concept definition in early project phase
  • Establish regular design reviews with cross functional teams
  • Support Functional Safety and Cyber Security, Intellectual properties and patents within R&D team
  • Collaborative definition of methodology and release of standards related to durability and reliability with analysis team
  • Be a team player and share the knowledge throughout the whole powertrain team

 

Qualification & Experience:

  • Previous experience within an automotive or automotive components supplier on powertrain components
  • Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent
  • Experience on all relevant vehicle legislation and certification requirements for automotive powertrain components and systems
  • Experience of delivering high performance powertrains from early design stage to series production
  • Proven experience in tracking and planning of technical subjects, tooling processes and variable/investment costs
  • In-depth vehicle powertrain knowledge
  • Leading and developing Staff
  • Working across functional teams effectively to deliver viable problem resolution
  • Experience on CAD modelling software as a plus
  • Expert user of Matlab/Simulink as a plus
