Currently, we are looking for an experienced motor designer to lead the motor development for our next-generation, high performance electric powertrains.
As a key member of the Research and Advanced Engineering team the individual will be responsible for leading the design, development and testing of advanced prototype motors, up to proof-of concept level. Following prototype validation, the projects will be largely handed over to delivery teams to continue development into mass production, however the Research and Advanced team will continue to support as required. The ideal candidate for the position of Motor Control Team Lead (m/f) has a strong passion for technology and is highly innovative with a hands-on approach and broad skill set.
1. Responsibilities:
Lead development of ultra-high performance motor prototypes, utilizing cutting-edge technologies, through to prototype validation.
Perform electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical analysis to evaluate innovative concepts and then optimise chosen solutions.
Responsible for overseeing a small team of engineers to support the design, development and testing.
Ensure alignment between all team-members and promote cross-functional teamwork
Responsible for the success of the team in meeting development targets and project milestones
Define technical resource requirements for successful project execution
Supplier selection and management
Definition and execution of a test plan to validate prototype developments
Support the development of Rimac’s long-term product strategy
Support investment planning for the equipment and testing facilities
2. Requirements:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
At least 5 years of professional experience in high performance motor development
In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art motors for motorsport / aerospace / automotive.
Strong understanding of electromagnetics, thermal and mechanical influences.
Skilled in FEM software (Motor-CAD, JMAG, Magnet)
Moderately skilled in CAD (3DX, CATIA, Solid Works)
Carried out multiple motor projects from design to prototype validation
Experience with testing and validation of traction motors
Experience supervising and leading a broad range of engineering tasks.
Skilled in organization and planning
Fluent in English
3. Considered as an advantage:
PhD in motor design
Direct experience with highly innovative technologies / topologies
Matlab / Python experience
