- Engineering definition of exterior side mirrors.
- Definition of targets for new products and components.
- Communication with suppliers and supplier management.
- Management of 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings in 3DX Experience.
- Maintenance and management of the CAD tree and bill of materials in the PLM software for systems under responsibility.
- Reviews of newly released styling surfaces and definition of proposals to ensure feasibility.
- Working with cross functional teams (close cooperation with design studio, simulation department, testing department, quality assurance, purchasing, homologation department, etc.)
- Definition and supervision of validation testing and analysis of developed products on component and car level.
- Preparation of prototype parts for testing.
- Product release for series production with all necessary documentation.
- Integration of designed systems with vehicle.
- Performing DFMEA.
- Supporting other teams in their activities (e.g., purchasing to analyse offers from suppliers).
- Designing fixtures for testing.
- Delivery of components and systems which are within performance, cost, weight and other targets.
- Delivery of systems within project timeline.
- Ensuring manufacturability, quality, legality and performance of designed systems.
- Ensuring technical drawings and production documentation are in line with company standards.
- Component validation plans and tests, refining design according to results.
- Definition safety characteristics, functionalities and requirements for each designed component and system.
- Ownership of system bill of materials.
3. Skills and competencies:
- Experience in design of Lightweight mechanical systems.
- At least 3 years of experience in automotive industry R&D office is required.
- Knowledge of surface modelling (GSD module in CATIA or similar).
- Excellent knowledge of English.
- Attention to detail to ensure high level of quality.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Experience in CAD software, preferably CATIA V5 or V6.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Good knowledge of overall vehicle components and functionalities.
- Experience with different manufacturing technologies.
- Self-motivated and self-organised way of working.
- Basic knowledge of electronics and electrical architecture.
- Good understanding of GD&T.
4. Considered as an advantage:
- Previous experience with automotive exterior mirrors.
- Experience in development of high performance or luxury cars.
- Experience in in development of low volume cars.
- Knowledge in defining DVP requirements for testing.
- Knowledge of automotive homologation requirements.
- Basic knowledge of FEM analysis.
