The candidate will be responsible for the on-time delivery of Powertrain driveline systems (hybrid DCT and EDUs) and related integration activities across all Bugatti Rimac programs on base system design, integration, and performances.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, integration, and testing of Hybrid DCT (dual clutch transmission) in terms of:
- Cooling system size, design and integration
- High level and low-level targets and requirements definition
- DMF (Dual mass flywheel) design and industrialization
- Wiring harness routings and connection with the rest of the vehicle
- Sensor’s specification and position
- transmission brackets definition in terms of position, geometry and NVH behavior based on simulation results
- TCU (transmission control unit) design, testing and calibration support
- System DFMEA
- Lead the design, development, integration, and testing of EDUs (electrical drive units) in terms of:
- Cooling system size, design, and integration
- High level and low-level targets and requirements definition
- Wiring harness routings and connection with the rest of the vehicle
- Sensor’s specification and position
- transmission brackets definition in terms of position, geometry and NVH behavior based on simulation results
- MCU (motor control unit) design, testing and calibration support
- Lead the driveline systems integration process into the vehicle in terms of:
- installation process during final assembly
- End of line testing
- Aftermarket and serviceability of main service parts
- System DFMEA
- Interact with the Powertrain systems team in terms of integration of the DCT and EDU with the rest of the vehicle
- Lead the external partners in terms component and system design and integration with the rest of the PWT components
- Lead the driveline systems development overall performances in terms of energy consumption, speed/torque characteristics, heat rejection water/oil across all phases of development
- Interact with the calibration team in terms of MCU and TCU definition and development and implementation of the ECUs into the HIL (Hardware in the Loop)
- Lead the external partner to deliver the hardware and related software on time into production according to target cost, package, mass, functionality, and quality
- Maintain and support de-bug activities for current and future driveline systems, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Main reference figure for Powertrain team for driveline systems in terms of mechanics and dynamics related topics, including functionality and resolution of technical issues
- Manage physical testing and prototype evaluation of hardware components
- Engage with main external suppliers and manage costs and timings, and ensuring program milestones are met, including evaluation of RFQ responses to influence management decisions
- Develop and ensure cross-functionality with other R&D departments to achieve vehicle requirements
- Engage with the product development process to understand the impact of design/engineering decisions
- Evaluate competitor benchmark information to improve concept definition in early project phase
- Establish regular design reviews with cross functional teams
- Support Functional Safety and Cyber Security, Intellectual properties, and patents within R&D team
- Collaborative definition of methodology and release of standards related to durability and reliability with analysis team
- Be a team player, train and coach all the team members and share the knowledge throughout the whole powertrain team
Qualification & Experience:
- Previous experience within an automotive or automotive components supplier on drivetrain systems design, specifically on gasoline high performance internal combustion engines and hybrid/mechanical gearboxes
- Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent
- Experience on all relevant vehicle legislation and certification requirements for related automotive components and systems
- Experience of delivering drivetrain systems components from early design stage to series production
- Leading and developing staff
- Proven experience in tracking and planning of technical subjects, tooling processes and variable/investment costs
- In-depth vehicle drivetrain systems knowledge and hybrid components
- Working across functional teams effectively to deliver viable problem resolution
- Experience on CAD modelling software
