We are looking for an engineer to help build the next generation of electric vehicle control and state estimation systems. As a Control Systems Engineer, you will create algorithms that use various vehicle sensors to determine the vehicle states like position, speed, the available amount of traction, etc. You will then design algorithms to control vehicle dynamics, using the unique powertrain configuration of multi-motor electric and hybrid vehicles.

 

In addition to achieving specific performance targets, vehicle control must also produce a superior driver feeling. You will work closely with test drivers on automotive proving grounds and customers to understand what makes a vehicle enjoyable to drive.

 

1. Responsibilities:

  • Developing state estimation algorithms for electric and hybrid vehicles and their components
  • Developing control algorithms for electric and hybrid vehicles and their components
  • Performing Model-in-the-loop and Hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Real-world vehicle testing
  • Analysis and interpretation of test data
  • Documenting test results and producing technical documentation
  • Communicating and coordinating with people of different technical backgrounds (e.g. mechanical and electrical engineers, test engineers, test drivers etc.)

 

2. Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of linear and nonlinear estimation techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of classical and nonlinear control theory
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics
  • Experience with  model-based-design in MATLAB Simulink)
  • Familiarity with C/C++
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization (using MATLAB, CANalyzer, Python or similar)
  • Good knowledge of English in writing and speaking

 

3. Optional competencies:

  • Experience with hybrid powertrain control systems
  • Experience with chassis control systems
  • Experience in requirements and test management
  • Knowledge of optimization algorithms
  • Experience with Model Predictive Control
  • Experience with IPG CarMaker
  • Experience troubleshooting automotive electrical systems
  • Experience working with CAN bus protocols
  • Experience in version control
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
